so.....apple's response to the shit storm about their antenna is to show that all phones lose reception when you hold it a certain way (which looks like the exact same way in every single one of their videos).

there's a link to their official site that shows this here: http://www.apple.com/antenna/

anybody own any of these phones? cause i own a blackberry 9700 and i tried to lose signal the same way they show on their site and in their video but no dice!

To me, it just seems like Apple is being a huge cuntrag. It's like in elementary school when you get in trouble for not doing your homework and you reply with "Johnny didn't do his either!" that's just low...and it sickens me. You know what? it's worse than that because apple have taken videos to "prove" it which is more like saying "Johnny didn't do his either! Look!" and then pulling Johnny's workbook out of his backpack and flipping it to the empty page.

Also, anybody else notice that the iphones are the only phones that do not start off with full bars? Assuming that it's true that all phones lose signal when you hold it the way they show (which isn't working for me, but who knows! i may be doing it wrong), doesn't it say something about the iphone's reception in general considering all the other phones start off with perfect reception while the iphone does not?

[Film] Toy Story 3

If you lived through the 90s, you probably know about the Toy Story films.

The original in 1995 was not only a landmark in animation but was also a darn great film, even beyond the audience of young children. From there, the magic that is Pixar began.

4 years later, Pixar did it again with its sequel. It not only respectfully and successfully followed the first film -- it also built on and developed from the themes established prior. And like the original, it was another great film with the same audience-reaching power.

11 years later, everyone has come to Toy Story 3. A second-sequel film, the '3' movie of the series, the latest edition that makes Toy Story a trilogy.

With the history of so-so '3' movies, can Pixar beat all odds and succeed in living up to the previous films and recreating the wonderful magic again?

Yes, indeed.

Brilliantly.

For those of you who watched the previous Toy Story films, the first 10 minutes alone is pure and wonderful nostalgia.

And then we proceed into with the story.

The premise this time: Andy is all grown up, heading off to college. What will become of the toys?

The answer: A lot, that makes you laugh, tear, and rejoice and wistfully remember your own childhood.

It deals with a theme of life that everyone on the planet has lived through at least one point in their lives -- growing up, moving on from childhood, and all the things that come along with it, from wistfully reminiscing and yearning for the past to preparing for the eventual and ultimate future that is the rest of your life. . . and the decisions that you make from it all.

This is the foundation of Pixar's Toy Story 3.

The incredible triumph that is Toy Story 3 can not be defined in the countless moments of the film -- and there are many, from significant to the Easter Eggs -- but if I were to start, I would immediately point to its story and the themes that explores.

Like Toy Story 2, the 3rd film builds and develops from the themes previously explored in the preceding film. However, what is absolutely amazing about Toy Story 3 is that it revisits all the themes that both Toy Story 2 and the original Toy Story explored and, bittersweet but best of all, brings them all to their eventual, heartfelt conclusion.

With all that said, Toy Story 3 is one of Pixar's most mature films to date and, by Pixar's stands, arguably its darkest. It even features what I believe to be the film villain of the year and, if I may be bold, one of the best film villains ever.

I don't entirely believe that the youngest and even the general and 'innocent' young viewers G-audience will be able to, ahem, process the darker moments of the film, never mind its scary elements (viewers know what they are!).

But ultimately, for them and everyone else, Toy Story 3 and the series itself are literal touchstones in our lives. We all have come-at-age at one point in our lives. The entire series and this latest and last installment is a heart-touching address and tribute to our lives.

To conclude?

Should be a candidate for film of the year? Definitely.

Should be nominated for the prestigious Best Picture at the Academy Awards? Absolutely.

Toy Story 3 is the best second-sequel, the best '3' movie of all time, making the entire series one of, if not the best trilogy of all time.

I've recently bumped into my old friend's brother, we knew each other in gr 6 and always hand wrote letters to one another. However with the advent of the internet, we never even added each other to msn or emailed.

Ironically, we added one another on facebook. She quickly disabled facebook after realizing it was too addictive and a time sink. I did so too, disabling it perhaps for eternity to come.

It's difficult maintaining friendships from childhood!! I can only text another few highschool friends, or elementary friends because they go to Waterloo (so far away!)!

MSN is actually not the communication tool of choice, especially when you've got mac's and the Nickname settings, status settings, and receiving offline messages seem to be disabled!
The theatre, designated a historical site by the City of Toronto, is undergoing extensive renovations that will restore the elegance and grandeur of the original O’Keefe Centre. Iconic features such as the theatre’s marquee canopy and York Wilson’s lobby mural “The Seven Lively Arts” will be preserved. Restoration of the wood, brass and marble that were hallmarks of the original facility are being undertaken, along with audience seating and flooring upgrades, new washrooms, and re-configured lobby spaces.

Audiences are invited to celebrate the Centre’s 50th Anniversary in a revitalized and re-invigorated facility in downtown Toronto - a nexus of arts, culture and technologies, where everyone is welcome. Through innovative programming on the stage and the use of state-of-the art technologies throughout the venue, the Sony Centre will entice and engage the community as a Theatre of the 21st Century.

So far, I've found two stores that sell Gothic and Lolita clothing in Toronto. Thought I'd share it

http://www.twylitefashion.com/

Located@
4 Kensington Avenue
Toronto Ontario Canada
M5T 2J7

Store office hour:
Monday~Sunday
11:30Am to 6:30Pm

The lady there is really nice, she said her store has been there for the past 10 years.
Curious, does anyone know any other gothic and lolita stores around Toronto, GTA, or Ontario in general?

Nextly, the only other place that sells legit branded Lolita garb is Her Majesty, upstairs of the Blue Banana, also located in Kesington Market

@ Blue Banana Market, 250 Augusta Avenue

Randomly: I had a conversation with a bunch of random people as of lately, do you think Gothic Lolita Fashion is really about the ART of crafting the dresses, as it is in the North American cosplay community, or is it about the BUYING of the (branded) dresses, as it is in the North American Lolitan Community?

To be honest, the Japanese philosophy is, if it looks good, wear it. There's not really a mentality of differentiating between brands.

But how do you ... as fans of anime/manga feel about this oddness?

This sequel continues where the first film left off with Ip Man and family settling down in Hong Kong. Ip Man had been trying to start a Wing Chun school this time but with Wing Chun being unknown in HK, it was hard for him to accept any disciples. Well, I don't want to spoil too much so I'm not gonna bother summarizing.

Anyway, this sequel starts off great and had some pretty good character development particularly with his disciple Wong Leung (played by Huang Xiao-Ming) but then the second half of the film really bombs as it seems to resemble "Rocky IV" (assuming that is the sequel where Rocky's buddy Apollo Creed dies). Well, same shit happens here. Overall, not a complete stinker but don't expect it to be as great as the first film. I'd probably give it a seven out of ten.

The world is at the brink of destruction as we know it. The fat lady is singing and the pigs are flying. But let it be known that Jackie Chan actually made a good movie. Jackie Chan plays a mid-aged soldier from a farming family who captures the last surviving soldier from an enemy troop (Leehom Wang). He hopes to claim a reward with the capture and given the privilege to go home to do some farming. But obstacles comes along the way and he is forced to team up with Leehom in order to survive. It's kinda like Rush Hour with a twist as they slowly bond and understand each other except that there are moments where they try to kill each other. Good movie overall with a totally unexpected ending.

Thumbs up for this flick!

I am only reviewing this because I've gone there a few times with friends, after midterms.

pros
-salads, ok fine I skip the salads, but I like them here.
-drinks- I think they're the only place I've found that still serve Vanilla Coke, and Cherry Coke.
-desserts, like apple a la monde arrive freshly baked with delicious dripping ice cream (shouldn't this be pomme a la monde?... en francais fools!... mang I need to get a bigger keyboard, can't do accents on dur mac)
-really friendly servers, even during closing time they don't rush you, or they even offer you extra dessert (mmm delicious brownies)

cons
-I think I've only ordered bar food/fingerfood everytime I've gone, like chicken fingers, or wings, or I've finished other people's food.. like their potatoes and gravy, steak etc...
So I can't really say I like the whole menu?
-once again like moxies, variable portions, I guess it really depends on who is chef on the day of. But it's really alright, it's just either more than usual or the usual.

Overall it's a good place for celebratory reasons, I do appreciate the crayons in cups and doodle all over the table spread sheets. I don't know how effective my reviews are, but I'm trying dammit, since a stig complained there ain't no variety here.
